Evans, originally from Ammanford, Carmarthenshire, said that the prospect of covering 400 miles across four nations in four or five days felt beyond his capabilities.
Cox advised him to take it day by day, but warned that the weather had “taken a slight turn”.
Evans added that it had been pouring and quite cold, “quite chilly”, echoing a similar concern about weather’s unpredictability.
“You try and get as ready as you can and there are certain things you can control, but the weather certainly isn’t something we can control,” he said.
After riding through Scotland, Northern Ireland, England and Wales, Evans’ journey will conclude in central Cardiff on 13 November.
Cox encouraged him, “Just keep pedalling, that’s all you’ve got to do, and you will do it.”
