Financial Secretary Paul Chan Mo-po stated on Sunday that global finance leaders set aside their political differences during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) finance ministers’ meeting held in Hong Kong last week, reaching a consensus on advancing digital infrastructure, employment, and youth exchange.
Regarding the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Chan noted that AIIB has a strong interest in infrastructure development within the Northern Metropolis, the government’s plan to transform 30,000 hectares of land bordering mainland China into a technology and housing hub.
“If any Northern Metropolis projects are open for co-investment, AIIB would be very interested,” Chan said, adding that the government will explore cooperation opportunities when specific projects are identified.
