Harmanpreet Kaur crafted a magnificent 126 runs off 121 balls during the second ODI against Zimbabwe at BCA Stadium in Vadodara on October 25, 2026. Her innings, adorned with 15 boundaries, propelled India to a formidable total of 328 for six after electing to bat first. This remarkable eighth ODI century cemented her status as India’s second-highest century-scorer in women’s cricket, surpassing the seven centuries of former captain Mithali Raj, while Smriti Mandhana leads the tally with 14 centuries.
Following the match, Harmanpreet reflected on her mindset and approach during this phase of her career. She candidly discussed the emotional adjustments after being succeeded as captain by Smriti Mandhana ahead of the Zimbabwe series, emphasizing her desire to adapt to current realities and stay focused on what brings her fulfillment in the sport.
“Well, I’m somebody who always likes to live life close to reality, and this is the reality now, and I just want to accept it in whatever way it is. And at the same time, cricket is something which has always given me happiness, and batting is something which is, you know, something I’ve been enjoying throughout my career. And today, and whenever I’m going to step in, I just want to enjoy my batting,” Harmanpreet said during the post-match presentation ceremony.
The Decisive Partnership Between Harmanpreet and Deepti
Harmanpreet’s century was achieved in her 72nd ODI on Indian soil, where she also crossed the 2,000-run mark for India. She reached this milestone in the 41st over of the innings. Her partnership with Deepti Sharma proved crucial, as the duo added 153 runs for the fifth wicket. Deepti remained unbeaten on 106 off 86 balls, continuing her impressive form in the series.
The partnership was broken in the 47th over when Michelle Mavunga dismissed Harmanpreet. At that point, Deepti had scored 92 not out off 76 balls. The unbeaten centuries from both players combined to give India a commanding total to defend.
India’s bowling attack was equally effective, with Vaishnavi Sharma taking four wickets to secure a 121-run victory. This win established an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series, with one ODI remaining.
