WASHINGTON — Former FBI Director James Comey has been charged with allegedly leaking national defense information, marking the third criminal case brought against the prominent critic of President Donald Trump.
A criminal complaint unsealed Monday accuses Comey of disclosing sensitive information in October 2016, while he led the bureau, to an individual not authorized to receive it.
Comey was previously charged in September of last year with making false statements to Congress, though a federal judge dismissed that case. In April, he was indicted again, this time for allegedly threatening the president’s life in an Instagram post.
