The KSE-100 index climbed 1,428.73 points, or 0.88%, to close at 164,467.20 on Tuesday, prolonging its recovery and reclaiming the 164,000 threshold. Buying interest broadened across key sectors—including cement, automobiles, and banking—as market participants viewed the State Bank of Pakistan’s 50-basis-point rate hike to 12% as less aggressive than feared.
MCB Bank, United Bank, Fauji Fertiliser, Pakistan Petroleum, and National Bank collectively contributed roughly 490 points to the advance. Cnergyico PK drew attention alongside firms posting strong earnings. Volume rose 6.9% to 402 million shares, while traded value increased 11.6% to Rs18.06 billion. Diplomatic discussions surrounding the US-Iran conflict further bolstered sentiment, though uncertainty regarding geopolitical tensions and oil prices persists.
