Host Inde Navarrette and cast member Marcello Hernández starred as melodramatic telenovela performers struggling to integrate a sponsored beverage into their scene on Saturday Night Live. The sketch, titled “El Corazón Que No Siente,” quickly spiraled as the actors failed take after take to sell the product convincingly.
Director Kenan Thompson informs Selena (Navarrette) and Rodrigo (Hernández) that Sprite has sponsored the episode, requiring them to drink the new Sprite Cherry-Lime Habanero. Corporate representatives Shayna (Ashley Padilla) and Todd (Mikey Day) watch closely from the sidelines to ensure compliance.
The first attempt collapses when Rodrigo holds up the bottle and declares that “only an obese pervert would drink this,” adding bluntly, “It’s bad, but they paid for this.”
In the next take, Selena hands Rodrigo the bottle for a sip. He forces it down but cannot mask his revulsion, labeling the beverage “poison.” Selena samples it herself, reacts with equal disgust, and spits it directly at him.
“How dare you spit in my face!” he shouts, slapping her. Selena collapses dramatically over the sofa—falling in the opposite direction of the strike.
“Dios mio!” he cries. “The Sprite has made me hit a woman!”
Shayna snaps, demanding the actors pretend the drink tastes fine despite clear evidence to the contrary. “We used A.I. to make it,” she admits.
Take three veers further into absurdity: Selena reveals she is pregnant with the child of Rodrigo’s evil twin brother. Rodrigo proposes a solution to prevent the birth—Sprite. Offended, Selena splashes him with the liquid, which burns and kills him instantly.
As the scene wraps, Todd confesses he actually likes the direction it took, prompting Shayna’s suspicion. “I am not who you think I am. This whole time, I work for ‘Siete Up,'” he reveals, tearing off his button-down to expose a green 7Up t-shirt. The camera zooms dramatically on the stunned cast as ominous music swells.
