Knesset member Ofer Cassif contends that the “politics of exclusion” continue to paralyze Israeli governance following the latest election. Palestinian-led parties secured 15% of the vote, presenting Israel’s leadership with a stark choice: forge partnerships with non-Zionist factions or accept prolonged legislative gridlock. Although Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bloc garnered the most votes, it fell short of the parliamentary majority needed to form a governing coalition.
Cassif, who represents one of the Arab-led parties, told host Steve Clemons that Israelis “need to understand that the future must be a future of Jewish-Palestinian partnership and not another form of exclusion.”
