Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Everton midfielder Harrison Armstrong as they prepare for the January transfer window.
The west London club sought a new midfield signing last summer after letting Enzo Fernandez move to Manchester City. Their primary target at the time was Monaco’s Lamine Camara, but the French side pulled the plug on the deal just before the deadline.
Chelsea have since been linked with Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, whose contract runs out at the end of next season.
Alongside Scott, the Blues continue to monitor Armstrong, who has become a key figure in Everton’s midfield plans this campaign.
Everton’s ownership attempted to sell Armstrong to Nottingham Forest for £40 million last summer, but the move collapsed following fan protests. The club is now reportedly up for sale, and Chelsea believe they can secure the player next year.
Armstrong has shown significant improvement over the past twelve months, and a higher fee may be required to bring him in either in January or the following summer.
