Billy Eichner has indicated that he would never rule out reviving his popular game show, “Billy on the Street.”
In a recent interview with Josh Horowitz for his Happy Sad Confused podcast, promoting his audio memoir Billy on Billy, the comic actor discussed the resurgence of the game series on social platforms.
“It’s remarkable how unexpectedly it has endured,” he remarked. “It’s something you can’t predict.”
Previously, the actor and writer behind Bros revived the format for a voter‑turnout campaign with Will Ferrell for the 2024 Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris. “That helped,” Eichner said sarcastically. “We gave it a shot; I wish more people had participated.”
He added, “For a while I thought I couldn’t do it again; I needed to draw a line in the sand. Yet fans love it, and even amidst snarky online commentary about me, the Billy on the Street videos stand apart.”
“The fans who understand it treat it like their favorite thing; they constantly ask, ‘Please do more. Please bring the show back; the world is so awful. Please do this.’ It’s touching and rare, though as an actor it no longer offers the creative fulfillment it once did. That said, I’m proud of the series.”
Billy on the Street aired for three seasons from 2011 to 2014 on Fuse, followed by two more on truTV. Subsequent short‑form web episodes appeared on Funny or Die and as part of a promotional effort for the 2022 film Bros. Selected clips featuring the iconic “For a Dollar” segment have continued to go viral on platforms such as TikTok.
“For me, I aim for a more eclectic career, and my therapist often reminds me I can do everything,” he said. “I don’t plan to return to half‑hour episodes of Billy on the Street, but we remain open to exploring future formats. The answer isn’t clear, but I’ll never completely rule it out. I don’t know,” he concluded.
