Ofcom, the UK communications regulator, has announced it is investigating serious allegations related to the Channel 4 programme Married at First Sight UK. The watchdog described the claims as “deeply disturbing” and confirmed it is taking the matter very seriously as it examines potential regulatory breaches.
The investigation follows reports concerning the reality television show, which has faced criticism over its handling of contestant wellbeing and programme production standards. Ofcom stated that it will conduct a thorough review of the allegations before determining any further action.
The regulator’s involvement highlights growing scrutiny of reality TV production practices and the responsibilities of broadcasters in protecting participants in such programmes.
