Willis Towers Watson (WTW) has acquired Redefind, a web-based platform that provides insurance solutions for cryptocurrencies and digital assets, as the brokerage and solutions division expands its presence in digital finance protection.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
Redefind’s co-founders, Richard Daws and Connor Edward, have joined WTW after the transaction closed.
This acquisition supports WTW’s strategic objective to broaden its offerings to clients engaged in cryptocurrency markets, digital finance, and tokenised asset ecosystems.
The newly acquired platform operates on a non‑custodial basis, focusing on expenses related to the recovery of digital assets rather than their market worth.
Coverage includes costs stemming from forensic investigations, asset tracing, and legal recovery actions following theft of digital assets.
Redefind’s enterprise‑grade technology uses cryptographic proof of ownership to insure assets that have traditionally been hard to cover. Its solutions serve both individual and institutional customers across a range of custody models.
The service is slated for an initial launch in the United Kingdom, with additional product development and international expansion planned thereafter.
As digital assets gain broader mainstream traction, demand for credible, regulated protection solutions is rising. This investment positions WTW to lead the development of risk transfer and protection frameworks within the digital economy.
The acquisition comes after a period of robust financial performance for WTW.
In the first quarter of 2026, net income increased 27% year‑over‑year to $303 million, up from $239 million.
Revenue grew 8% to $2.41 billion from $2.22 billion, and adjusted EBITDA rose to $589 million from $532 million.
Adjusted EBITDA margin edged up to 24.4% of revenue, compared with 23.9% in the comparable 2025 period.
