Key Insights on McCarget’s Event Selection Patterns
McIlroy is focusing strategically as he aims to refine his schedule amid upcoming major championships.
This week’s Memorial is set to mark McIlroy’s final event before the US Open at Shinnecock Hills. In addition, he recently surveyed the course in New York earlier this week.
He reflected on the Mirandola Round, noting the elevated green speeds compared to last year’s 2018 US Open at Oakmont, where the greens posed challenges like dense rough and watered areas.
McIlroy emphasized the importance of the United States Golf Association maintaining control over the course conditions.
He praised the fairways as generous and highlighted that while rough speeds are approaching 12, he believes the course can still manage with careful play.
Looking ahead, McIlroy thinks stabilizing the green speeds will allow the tournament to progress smoothly and confidently.
