The notion of a resort collection can be fluid for designers, who are expected to address a broad spectrum—from tropical getaway attire to holiday party ensembles. Yet Andrea Lieberman approaches the season with a focus on creating a versatile wardrobe that transcends any single event.
The archetype of occasion wear, in Lieberman’s view, is tailoring, and A.L.C.’s latest offering draws heavily on menswear aesthetics. A deep burgundy tuxedo, when fastened, is designed to be worn without underlayers—an intentional statement of subtle allure. Elsewhere, she pairs a tuxedo jacket with a winter coat, a combination she describes as “really sick.” Nevertheless, while Lieberman is a devoted admirer of her own work, she designs with a broader perspective in mind. Consider, for instance, a white maxi dress featuring a plunging V‑neck, waist ruching, and an open, draped sleeve. “For me, this dress is a constant; I know I will always have something to reach for because it sits in my closet,” she explains.
There is also ample casual fare, including slouchy jeans and lace‑trimmed knit tanks. Yet Lieberman is particularly excited about her range of Milano knit hoodies. “They convey a sporty vibe while remaining refined,” she notes. “You don’t feel as though you’re wearing a child’s sweatshirt; you feel like you’re wearing something elevated.” Whether a party‑ready tuxedo or an everyday hoodie, refinement remains the guiding principle.
