The road to the Survival of the Fittest is officially underway, with the first set of competitors for the qualifying rounds now confirmed.
On Saturday, Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander, Mina Shirakawa, Harley Cameron, Zayda Steele, and Queen Aminata all stepped forward to claim their spots in the qualifiers. The victors of these upcoming bouts will advance to a multi-person elimination match to crown a new TBS Champion, scheduled for the July 1 edition of Dynamite in San Diego.
The field is fraught with tension, particularly between Shida and Statlander, who recently clashed in a brutal Lights Out Street Fight won by Statlander. Additionally, Shirakawa and Cameron have both been embroiled in conflicts with Shida leading up to her shocking betrayal of Statlander at Double or Nothing.
Willow Nightingale Forced to Vacate Championship
The TBS title became vacant unexpectedly just prior to Double or Nothing when Willow Nightingale was forced to relinquish the gold due to injury. The injury also sidelined Nightingale from the women’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament; Mercedes Mone stepped in as her replacement and successfully advanced to the semifinals this past Wednesday following a victory over Alex Windsor.
