Ethan Woodie of NFL Trade Rumors identified potential destinations for free‑agent cornerback Rasul Douglas, placing the Carolina Panthers among the top three suitors as they look to add depth behind starters Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson.
According to Woodie, Douglas would not replace Jackson or Horn as starters, but he could serve as an immediate upgrade over [Chau] Smith‑Wade in the slot if the coaching staff elects to use him there. Even if the staff prefers not to deploy him in that role, he would remain the third outside corner and a high‑quality backup, giving Carolina additional options at a position where depth is currently limited.

The Panthers drafted Texas A&M’s Will Lee III in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft; he is expected to contribute primarily on the outside and provide depth behind Horn and Jackson.
The slot position may be contested, with Smith‑Wade and second‑year cornerback Corey Thornton emerging as the primary candidates.
Douglas, who will turn 32 in August, previously spent a brief stint with the Panthers in 2020, appearing in 11 of 14 games and starting 11.
In 2025, Douglas started 13 games for the Miami Dolphins, recording 62 combined tackles and two interceptions.
