KARACHI: A judicial magistrate remanded a woman in police custody for six days to investigate allegations that her husband’s death was staged as a suicide.
The deceased’s wife and her former partner were charged under Sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code, following a complaint from the deceased’s father. He claimed that Hamza, his son, was murdered by his wife, Dua Rustam, a police constable, and her ex-husband.
Family members arrived at the scene after receiving a call about Hamza’s death. They found his body hanging with his hands tied and a cloth in his mouth, suggesting foul play.
Investigators stated the exact cause of death remained undetermined. They also noted that the alleged accomplice was at large and sought physical remand for the suspect to expedite the arrest and complete the investigation.
The court granted the remand, directing authorities to submit a progress report at the next hearing.
