Elon Musk is on the verge of becoming the world’s first trillionaire, a prospect that Jimmy Kimmel doubts is appropriate for someone of his stature.
Kimmel noted that SpaceX is preparing for what could be the largest initial public offering ever, which would make the company publicly traded. If that occurs, Musk would become the first trillionaire in history, an unsettling prospect given his reputation as one of the planet’s most eccentric individuals.
He warned that such immense wealth could enable Musk to fund destructive projects, such as launching a missile that could destroy the moon, and to divert large sums of others’ money into his own holdings.
Kimmel pointed out that the high valuation of SpaceX shares will likely trigger automatic investments of many 401(k) plans, posing significant risk to retirement savings since the company has not turned a profit and reported a $5 billion loss last year.
He recalled Musk’s claim that future robots will eliminate the need for retirement savings. Kimmel quipped that this strategy could turn Musk into a trillionaire while his parents become Walmart greeters, questioning why society should assist in accelerating his Mars ambitions.
Kimmel admitted that grasping a trillion dollars is beyond human comprehension; he noted that while we can imagine Musk’s many children, we cannot fathom his sexual activity.

He observed that with such wealth, Musk could purchase every NFL franchise and retain $773 billion, enough to acquire all 30 MLB teams, every NBA team, every Wendy’s, every Target location, the entire Beatles catalog, Nike, Macy’s, and every Hyundai Elantra ever made, with $260 billion remaining.
Kimmel concluded that Musk, an immigrant from South Africa who does not pay his fair share of income tax, “appears to be an immigrant taking from us.”
