The upcoming AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door event will showcase a marquee championship clash.
On June 28 in San Jose, Thekla will put the AEW Women’s Championship on the line against Stardom’s Starlight Kid. This follows a period of heated remarks by Thekla aimed at her former promotion and its leader, Taro Okada.
During Saturday’s broadcast of Collision, commentator Tony Schaivone offered an apology for recent statements made by Thekla. In response, Thekla interrupted him, telling him to stop speaking. She recalled Stardom’s decision to release her, highlighting her ascent to the top of the wrestling industry. Thekla issued a challenge to Stardom to bring its best competitor to the event, asserting that they will witness the result of their own creation.
A short video package featuring Starlight Kid preceded Thekla’s interview segment. When questioned, Thekla remained composed, acknowledging Starlight Kid and indicating that the competitor’s fate rested in her hands.
