A group of rescued lions at a United Kingdom wildlife sanctuary has entered the World Cup conversation by offering their own predictions for England’s group-stage campaign.
As part of an enrichment programme, the big cats were presented with boxes decorated with the flags of England’s opponents—Croatia, Ghana, and Panama. Keepers at the sanctuary interpreted each lion’s choice as a forecast for the match outcome.
In the case of England versus Croatia, the lioness sisters Amani and Lira appeared to favour the Three Lions, while male lion Rori also seemed to back England against Ghana. The final assessment was less encouraging, as lioness Vanda showed interest in Panama’s flag, hinting at a surprise defeat in the last group‑stage game.
All of the sanctuary’s lions were rescued from Ukraine and relocated to the UK last year. While their predictions may not rival those of football pundits, they provide a charming, light‑hearted talking point for fans as England’s campaign unfolds.
