Despite recent reports linking the two, journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal are not pursuing a move for Roma midfielder Manu Kone.
While the Gunners are actively seeking midfield reinforcements this summer, Italian reports had suggested that personal terms had already been agreed with Kone. These claims indicated that Arsenal were preparing a formal bid, coinciding with Roma’s desire to balance their finances.
However, Romano has dismissed these assertions, clarifying that the Premier League champions are not currently targeting the Frenchman. Although Kone was monitored earlier in the year, the club’s leadership is now seeking a different player profile to suit Mikel Arteta’s tactical requirements.
Arsenal are prioritizing a more creative presence in the midfield, meaning Kone is no longer a primary objective for the North London side. Nevertheless, the 25-year-old may still head to England, as Newcastle United and Aston Villa have both been linked with interest in the midfielder.
