JetBlue is scaling back certain New York‑area operations this fall as it redirects capacity toward South Florida.
The carrier will close its inflight crew base at Newark Liberty International Airport and its technical operations facilities at both Newark and LaGuardia airports, JetBlue confirmed to FOX Business News. The airline emphasized that no employees will lose their jobs as a result of these closures.
With recent schedule adjustments, the company said it is reconfiguring its operational footprint to support future flights. Crewmembers will be eligible to bid or transfer to other bases, and no crewmember will lose employment because of these closures.

JetBlue, which is headquartered in Long Island City, New York, indicated that it sees considerable growth potential in Fort Lauderdale, a market where customers “recognize and appreciate the JetBlue experience.”
JetBlue President Marty St. George and Chief Operating Officer Warren Christie informed employees that the airline must act swiftly as competitors continually adjust their route strategies, according to CNBC.
“We’re operating in a dynamic environment where competitors constantly add, reduce, and reshape flight schedules in response to market conditions,” the executives noted in a staff communication. “To remain competitive, we must be equally agile, entering markets with opportunity and exiting those that no longer align with our long‑term objectives. Staying stagnant while rivals adjust is not an option.”
