INDIANAPOLIS — Angel Reese recorded her 10th double-double of the season with 21 points and 11 rebounds, Jordin Canada contributed 18 points, and the Atlanta Dream secured a 108-101 victory over the Indiana Fever on Thursday night.
Naz Hillmon and Allisha Gray each tallied 17 points, while Rhyne Howard added 16, marking the first time this season that all five Atlanta starters reached double figures.
Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell paced Indiana (9-6) with 26 points apiece. Aliyah Boston finished with 23 points and eight rebounds, narrowly missing what would have been her fifth consecutive double-double. Mitchell joined exclusive company by becoming the eighth player in WNBA history to reach 700 career three-pointers.
Atlanta (10-4) built a 13-point advantage in the second half before Indiana rallied. The Fever erupted for a 9-0 run in the fourth quarter to knot the score at 93 on Sophie Cunningham’s layup with 5:07 remaining. Mitchell fueled the surge with seven points, including her historic three-pointer.
The Dream regained control by capitalizing on Indiana’s 17th turnover, converting a fast-break layup for a 99-95 lead with 2:08 left. Howard then scored on back-to-back possessions to stretch the margin to 103-97.
Reese effectively sealed the outcome by converting a three-point play with 23.1 seconds remaining.
After picking up four first-half fouls, Reese played the entire second half without another whistle. She sat with 5:45 left in the second quarter, but Atlanta responded by outscoring Indiana 19-11 the rest of the half to carry a 58-49 lead into the break.
Clark Debuts Signature Shoe
Clark took the court in her newly unveiled Nike “Caitlin 1” signature shoes, released the previous day. The racer-blue sneakers, adorned with her initials on the tongue, were highly anticipated after weeks of teasing on social media.
“I think even yesterday, like knowing I was going to post that early in the morning, I didn’t sleep very well because I was just so excited,” Clark said before the game.
Her debut in the shoes was cut short when she drew her fifth foul with 8:41 remaining. Clark re-entered at the 3:28 mark with Indiana trailing 95-93 but did not attempt another shot, finishing 8-of-17 from the floor with two three-pointers.
