June 19 (Reuters) – U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is preparing to travel to the Middle East next week, with planned stops in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, Axios reported Friday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
Axios later reported, citing a third unidentified source, that Rubio is expected to participate in a summit in Bahrain with foreign ministers from the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The State Department did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation sent by email.
