Matt Henry’s Five-Wicket Destruction Secures New Zealand Series-Leveling Victory Over England in Second Test]
New Zealand pace bowler Matt Henry delivered a devastating performance, claiming all five wickets in the morning session to help dismiss England for 209 and secure a 253-run victory in the second Test at The Oval on Sunday.
Chasing 463 for an improbable victory, England were startled into starting the fifth day at 182-5 and collapsed dramatically, being bowled out inside an hour of play.
Henry’s masterpiece began with the removal of Joe Root LBW for 77 with the first ball of his second over, adding just two runs to his overnight score. Within minutes, he dismissed Jofra Archer for a duck, followed by Matthew Fisher’s stumping without scoring, Josh Tongue’s catch, and finished by bowling Jordan Cox with an in-swinging yorker.
The stunning bowling performance left Henry with 11 wickets in the match, cementing his reputation as New Zealand’s key destroyer. England’s dismal run continues after losing their sixth Test in their last eight outings.
The series decider is scheduled for next week at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.
