Shrachi Rarh Tigers clinched their maiden title in the Bengal T20 League Season 3 men’s tournament, defeating Sobisco Smashers Malda by nine runs via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) Method in a rain-interrupted final at Eden Gardens on Sunday. This victory ensured a third consecutive season with a new champion.
Despite early setbacks, with the team slipping to 10/3 after being put into bat first in a 15-over match, captain Shahbaz Ahmed delivered a match-winning performance. His unbeaten 88 off 46 balls, featuring seven fours and six sixes, combined with Gaurav Singh Chauhan’s 55 off 30 deliveries, propelled the Tigers to 165/4. Akhil was Malda’s top bowler, taking two wickets.
Malda’s chase was adjusted to 107 runs in nine overs due to further rain interruptions. While captain Abhimanyu Easwaran contributed 38 off 22 balls, the Tigers’ disciplined bowling, led by Sukhmeet Singh’s two wickets and contributions from Raju Halder and Rohit Kumar, restricted Malda to 97/5, sealing the win.
