The 1,500 sq ft location on Mainguard Street marks FatFace’s first store in western Ireland, complementing its existing southern and eastern locations across the country. The opening reinforces the brand’s commitment to expanding its physical presence after acquisition by Next in 2023, which now oversees over 175 UK stores.
The new store combines FatFace’s latest collections with its signature core ranges. The expansion also generates five permanent roles, with team members receiving discounts, wellbeing support, and flexible working arrangements as part of its employee benefits program.
Since its Irish market entry, FatFace has steadily grown its network. The Galway location underscores its dual focus on urban accessibility and localized engagement, aligning with the brand’s 2022–2025 growth strategy targeting Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns.
Karen Johnston, stores director at FatFace, emphasized the store’s dual purpose: “Galway isn’t just another location—it’s a gateway to deeper penetration in the west. We’re thrilled to serve existing customers while building new relationships within the community.”
FatFace, a B Corp-certified retailer, offers womenswear, menswear, footwear, and accessories across its Irish network. Its Galway store follows similar openings in Dublin, Limerick, and Cork, reflecting Next Group’s broader multi-format strategy to challenge online dominance in fashion retail.
