Tributer Resort in Lake Anna, Virginia, is set to add a second 18-hole championship golf course designed by Tiger Woods’ TGR Design team. The new course, scheduled to break ground in 2028, represents a major expansion of the resort community that opened its first championship layout in 2021. The development is being spearheaded by Reef Capital Partners, the investment firm behind several acclaimed golf destinations including Black Desert Resort in Utah and Sweetens Cove in Tennessee.
The existing Cutalong Golf Club at Tributer Resort—a course inspired by the strategic principles of Golden Age architects like C.B. Macdonald—was named one of Golf Digest’s Top 5 best new private courses in the U.S. in 2023. The upcoming TGR Design course will offer a distinctly different championship experience while showcasing the property’s unique topography and natural landscape.

Situated 55 miles north of Richmond and 85 miles southwest of Washington, D.C., Tributer Resort is evolving into a comprehensive lifestyle destination featuring over 900 residences, multiple dining venues, wellness amenities, and lakeside recreation. The resort currently offers seven golf villas and eight cottages, all member-owned properties that provide guests with stay-and-play options.
“This new course announcement represents a major milestone in the evolution of Tributer Resort and reinforces our commitment to building a premier golf destination at Lake Anna,” said General Manager Ian Sikes. “Together with our existing offerings, this addition brings a new level of excitement and distinction to the club and community.”

The new TGR Design course will be member-exclusive, while the existing Cutalong layout remains accessible to residents and guests through various membership tiers including golf memberships with priority access to both courses. Social memberships are also available for residents seeking non-golf amenities.
Designed to stretch 7,310 yards from championship tees, the second course will weave through rolling farmland, mature hardwood forests, and pine groves overlooking Lake Anna—terrain shaped by 19th and 20th-century mining operations that once extracted copper, pyrite, and gold from the region. TGR Design President Bryon Bell emphasized the course’s variety, noting strategic shot values and “a balanced mix of uphill and downhill holes, shifting perspectives, and natural landforms” that will create a distinctive golfing experience.
The course design prioritizes playability for golfers of all skill levels while maintaining championship challenge. Woods and TGR Design have an established relationship with Reef Capital Partners through previous projects including the first of two courses at Marcella in northern Utah.

Completing the resort’s golf offerings is an 18-hole lighted putting course called The Shenandoah Green, located adjacent to the clubhouse and overlooking the first and 18th holes of Cutalong. Single-night and multi-night stay-and-play packages allow non-members to experience the resort’s member-style amenities within private residence settings.
