Small Aircraft Strikes Beijing’s CITIC Tower, Causing Visible Damage

Beijing’s tallest building displayed signs of damage on Friday after images and videos circulated on social media showing debris near the skyscraper.

Although the footage appeared to correspond with the location, its authenticity could not be independently verified, and the content was swiftly taken down.

According to the Hong Kong‑based South China Morning Post, a small plane collided with CITIC Tower—also known as China Zun—in the city’s Central Business District.

Photographs suggested a hole or broken glass on one side of the 528‑meter (1,732‑foot) structure.

Police, fire engines, and ambulances were observed outside the tower.

The cause of the incident remains unclear, and authorities have not yet released an official statement.
