Fans, musicians and media personalities, including Stormzy, Mel B, Beverley Knight, Jools Holland and Alesha Dixon, have flooded social media with messages of love and support for Trevor Nelson.
Beverley Knight emphasized, “Health comes first, always.”

Also, fellow broadcasters Clara Amfo, Tony Blackburn, Romesh Ranganathan, Zoe Ball and Lauren Laverne voiced their support.
Laverne of 6 Music and Radio 4 added, “Sending lots of love and keeping everything crossed for you. I understand how it feels—take it one step at a time and avoid rushing ahead.”
During Friday’s programme, Vernon Kay reflected, “Everyone at BBC Radio 2, including the mid‑morning show, sends Trevor our very best wishes. We truly love him.” He added, “Trevor is a stalwart broadcaster. I played golf with him a couple of weeks ago; he looked buoyant. I know he will confront this challenge head‑on.” Kay concluded, “Trevor, we send you all our love and hope to see you back on the links soon, my friend.”
Nelson hosts a weekday afternoon show on Radio 2 and appears on 1Xtra late on Sunday mornings.
Starting next week, Clara Amfo will cover his weekday slot from 14:00 to 16:00 BST, as confirmed. DJ Spoony will then take over from 6 July until further notice.
Speaking Friday afternoon, Richie Anderson—who covered for Nelson—stated, “We’re sending all our love to Trevor; we’ve got your back, buddy.”
