Rachel Cruze, the financial coach and co‑host of the “Ramsey Show,” cautioned young adults—particularly men in their twenties—to steer clear of fast‑track money tactics such as sports betting, cryptocurrency speculation, and impulsive real‑estate ventures. In an interview with FOX Business, she warned that chasing easy, short‑term gains can jeopardize long‑term financial security.
Cruze, a best‑selling author and member of Ramsey Solutions, highlighted that many young people are lured by promises of instant wealth. “It’s especially frustrating that kids in their 20s are constantly falling for online gambling and quick‑win ideas like crypto and real‑estate when they’re not ready,” she said.
She cited recent statistics showing that roughly 27% of Americans—and 52% of men aged 18‑49—hold active accounts with online sportsbooks such as Caesars, DraftKings, BetMGM, and FanDuel. “Spending large sums on sports betting is essentially throwing money away and can have a lasting negative impact on a generation’s economic health,” she warned.
According to Cruze, the allure of social‑media influencers pitching fast‑track methods further fuels the myth that wealth can be built overnight. She observed, “If something looks too good to be true, it usually is.”
Instead, she urges a disciplined, steady approach to wealth building—living below one’s means, eliminating debt, and investing consistently over time. “Real financial stability requires a long‑term perspective and a willingness to endure the less flashy, more reliable path,” she explained.
Cruze also cautioned that constant exposure to peer showcases on platforms like TikTok can distort expectations around careers, homeownership, and spending. “People are pressured to keep up with others’ vacations and promotions, which can lead to unhealthy financial decisions,” she noted.
Her final recommendation for young adults is to focus on their own financial realities instead of comparing themselves to others. “Concentrate on your own income, your goals, and the numbers that matter to you,” she advised.
Rx: Rachel Cruze’s advice aligns with Ramsey Solutions’ well‑known “7 Baby Steps” program, aimed at helping individuals systematically pay off debt, save, and accumulate wealth over time.
