Ukrainian authorities reported that Russian missile and drone strikes killed at least eight people and wounded 34 others, with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemning the attacks as “horrific.”
Zelenskyy stated that a missile attack on Dnipro, a key industrial city located about 100 kilometers from the front line, left at least five dead and 28 injured. Regional Governor Oleksandr Hanzha confirmed one victim was a 13-year-old girl and shared images of damaged buildings and emergency responders at the scene.
“Those injured sustained traumatic brain injuries, shrapnel wounds, fractures and blast trauma,” Hanzha said.
In Zaporizhzhia, a drone attack killed three people and injured six, including a child, according to Zelenskyy. The city lies roughly 30 kilometers from the front line and serves as the administrative center of a region that Russia claims to have annexed.
The president also reported that missile and drone strikes targeted areas across multiple Ukrainian regions, including Sumy, Odesa, Chernihiv, Kherson, and Kharkiv.
Meanwhile, Russia maintained its stance on peace negotiations, with the Kremlin saying its position remains unchanged since 2024. President Vladimir Putin reiterated that Ukraine must withdraw from four occupied regions and abandon its NATO aspirations. Putin dismissed a recent Ukrainian proposal to scale back long-range strikes and restrict fighting to the contested Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
