Rush has postponed the final two dates of their four-show residency at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, due to lead vocalist and bassist Geddy Lee’s diagnosis of laryngitis and bronchitis.
The June 20 and July 2 concerts will now take place on July 11 and July 13, respectively. According to the band, doctors have advised Lee to “rest and recover before returning to the stage.”
“This is incredibly disappointing for all of us,” the group said in a statement shared on Rush’s official Instagram account on Tuesday. “We know many of you have made travel plans and have been counting down the days to these shows. Please know this decision was not made lightly.”
The statement emphasized that Rush has always prioritized delivering their best performance, noting, “After more than 50 years of touring, we’ve always believed that if we’re going to step on stage, we owe you the very best performance we can give—and right now, that simply isn’t possible.” Tickets purchased for the original dates will remain valid for the rescheduled performances, with refund information available for fans unable to attend the new dates.
In a video posted to social media, guitarist Alex Lifeson revealed that Lee struggled during soundcheck, saying he could “barely speak, let alone sing.” “We’re really, really sorry. Really heartbroken,” Lifeson said. “But we can’t do a show that’s not 100 percent. So, that’s our responsibility to you, and we live by that. We’ll see you soon.”
This marks the second postponement of the Fort Worth run. Their originally scheduled June 24 show was previously pushed to July 2 due to “unforeseen travel and border-related delays” affecting production. Rush performed the first two shows of the residency on June 26 and June 28.
