Madonna has returned to the top of the charts with her new album Confessions II. The sequel to her 2005 Grammy-winning release Confessions on a Dance Floor has been anticipated for months, with the pop icon releasing singles throughout 2026.
This marks Madonna’s first full-length studio album in over seven years—her previous release Madame X arrived in June 2019—making Confessions II her longest gap between traditional studio LPs. The album has debuted at number one on iTunes Top Albums charts worldwide, including the United States.
Madonna Rules iTunes With Confessions II
Confessions II claimed the top spot on iTunes Top Albums upon release. Most significantly, Madonna occupies the top two positions with different versions of the album. The standard edition leads at number one, while Confessions II: Icon Edition, featuring bonus track “Hot Sauce,” debuts at number two.
Madonna Scores Five Bestselling Albums
The iTunes Top Albums chart features 200 positions, and Madonna places five versions of her work within the top 10. Confessions on a Dance Floor: 20 Years Edition, released in 2025, re-entered at number 42 and may climb further. The Immaculate Collection reached number 115, while her self-titled 1983 debut album, home to hits like “Lucky Star,” “Holiday,” and “Borderline,” returned at number 170.
Four of Madonna’s Confessions II Songs Also Sell Well
On iTunes Top Songs, four tracks from Confessions II entered the top 10. “Love Sensation,” the latest single, debuted at number 4. Sabrina Carpenter collaboration “Bring Your Love” surged to number 5, while “I Feel So Free,” the era’s opening promotional single, secured number 6.
Despite strong song performance, Madonna’s overall chart success stems from album purchases. Fans are gravitating toward complete collections rather than individual tracks. “Danceteria,” released alongside the album, began at number 141 on the songs chart.
