Virgil van Dijk will remain at Anfield for the 2026-27 campaign despite speculation about a summer departure.

However, veteran journalist James Pearce has debunked these claims, confirming that Liverpool view Van Dijk as central to their plans and have appointed him as captain for the forthcoming campaign.
