Eight individuals, including four children, were injured after a shooting in the Coney Island area of Brooklyn during the Independence Day holiday.
Authorities responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 10:37 p.m. on West 31st Street, as confirmed by the NYPD in a statement to ABC News.
The victims comprised two men, two women, and four children aged 14, 12, 7, and 6. All were transported to hospitals; seven remain in stable condition, while a 21‑year‑old woman is listed as critical.
Police recovered a firearm at the scene and have not announced any arrests. The NYPD has not yet responded to a Reuters request for comment.
