Dead 12-Ton Whale Recovered from DR Congo Beach After Multi-Day Removal Operation

A 12-tonne dead whale has been successfully recovered from the beaches of Muanda on the Atlantic coast of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Officials deployed a 42-tonne crane to extract the marine animal after two days of failed attempts using tractors and other lifting equipment. The removal operation drew large crowds of spectators who gathered to witness the challenging recovery effort. The successful extraction took place on July 5, 2026.
