AEW President Tony Khan has expressed his enthusiasm regarding Ring of Honor’s upcoming return to the legendary 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for the next edition of Death Before Dishonor.
ROH recently confirmed via social media that Death Before Dishonor will return to the historic Philadelphia venue on Friday, August 21. The announcement, first reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer, highlights the brand’s return to a location that served as a cornerstone of the promotion throughout the 2000s.
Reflecting on the venue’s significance, Khan noted his personal connection to the arena and the deep legacy of the promotion in the city.
On the return to the 2300 Arena:
“There’s a great tradition of Ring of Honor wrestling in Philadelphia. It’s very fitting that one of the most important shows every year in the Ring of Honor calendar, the great Death Before Dishonor event, is coming to Philadelphia. I went to see wrestling there when I was very young, around 13 years old. It means a lot to go back there. There’s tremendous history at the 2300 Arena for the Ring of Honor. It’s just a great tradition of wrestling there.”
Khan also praised the momentum of the promotion following last year’s successful event, where Athena successfully defended the ROH Women’s World Championship in the main event.
On the success of the previous Death Before Dishonor:
“I really loved the Death Before Dishonor show we had there last year. It was tremendous. So much has happened in ROH in the past year. Bandido and Athena have maintained dominant reigns and have wrestled all over the world and have shown fans why they are two of the greatest champions in the sport. We’ve seen a number of great women and men emerging in ROH and I think the shows recently have been tremendous wrestling shows. So there’s a lot to be excited about in ROH as we approach Death Before Dishonor next month.”
As announced by the @phillyinquirer and @phillysport, @ringofhonor is returning to the iconic 2300 Arena in Philadelphia with Death Before Dishonor on Fri, Aug 21!
