Ferrari Set for Inaugural F1 Run on Madrid’s Madring Circuit Ahead of Spanish Grand Prix

Ferrari is scheduled to hold a promotional filming session this week at the newly established venue for the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix, according to information obtained by Motorsport.com.

The Italian squad will run on the Madrid street circuit, dubbed the ‘Madring’, this Thursday. The track will make its debut as a Grand Prix host on 11–13 September, taking over from Barcelona as the location for the Spanish round.

The outing will mark the first time an F1 machine — Ferrari’s SF-26 — turns wheels on the Madrid layout, granting the team crucial data collection and offering organizers a key operational rehearsal.

Formally classified as a ‘filming day’, the session is reserved for promotional footage. Regulations permit up to 200 kilometres of running, to be shared by drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc.

The event follows a successful weekend for Ferrari, which secured its second win of the 2026 season. Leclerc built on Hamilton’s earlier Barcelona triumph by claiming victory at Silverstone during the British Grand Prix.

With two victories in the last three rounds, Ferrari sits second in the constructors’ championship, trailing Mercedes by 78 points. In the drivers’ standings, Hamilton and Leclerc occupy third and fourth respectively.

The most remarkable element of Ferrari’s filming day is the swiftness of its organization; merely days ago, the Madring remained an active construction zone.

This pertains primarily to the grandstands and paddock facilities, where a recent media tour revealed ongoing work across multiple sections of the site.

The 5.416‑kilometre track, comprising 22 corners and an extended banked segment, is however finished. Ferrari’s run will serve as further validation of the completed infrastructure.

Thus, in addition to providing the Scuderia with early familiarity of the circuit, the filming day grants Madring promoters a vital chance to assess venue operations with a current Formula 1 car on site.
