A judicial magistrate in Karachi has approved a five-day physical remand for a 20-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting and murdering a six-year-old boy. The child’s body was discovered in an empty plot near Lea Market on the night of July 7, a day after he went missing.
Police reported that the suspect, a neighbor of the victim from Lahore, confessed during initial investigations to kidnapping the boy. Medical examinations confirmed decomposed body with multiple bone injuries, and samples were collected for sexual assault and chemical analysis, though the exact cause of death remains under investigation.
The suspect was presented at City Courts under tight security. Authorities revealed that after allegedly killing the child, the accused stored the body on the rooftop of his residence before disposing of it from the third floor wrapped in a gunny bag. Local residents found the body and assaulted the suspect before police took him into custody.
Originally, the FIR was registered under Sections 364-A of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 3 of the Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act, 2018. A rape charge has since been added to the case. The investigation officer sought a 14-day remand to trace accomplices, but the court granted five days, directing a progress report at the next hearing.
