Commercial director Runar Pahr Andresen said demand has far exceeded expectations, with orders reaching a record high this year.
Andresen told the BBC that retailers have placed around 250,000 jersey orders this year—roughly five times the 50,000 orders recorded at the same time last year.
Torshov Sport in Oslo received a fresh shipment of Norwegian national team jerseys on Tuesday, sparking long queues that snaked around the block ahead of Wednesday’s opening.
Local reporters estimated the line stretched about 600 metres, winding through several streets. Some devoted supporters arrived with chairs, preparing to wait in line for up to 12 hours.
Store manager Anders Lilleberg told Norwegian outlet VG that the atmosphere was electric beyond anything he had seen before.
“In my many years here, I have never experienced such a wild atmosphere,” he remarked.
The store is now taking registrations for its upcoming kit release, though it cannot guarantee all jerseys will arrive in time for Saturday’s decisive match.
Runar Pahr Andresen explained that while they would have liked to have more stock, production volumes are planned well in advance.
He added, “Scaling up production significantly during an ongoing World Cup is difficult.”
