Over the years, Sean “Diddy” Combs has made multiple notable appearances in WWE, yet former superstar Chris Masters suggests the music mogul was not well regarded behind the scenes.
Combs performed at the 2010 WWE Tribute to the Troops and returned for WrestleMania 28 in 2012, where he introduced musician Machine Gun Kelly. The following year, he performed at WrestleMania 29, with his track “Coming Home” serving as one of the event’s official theme songs. He also appeared on Monday Night RAW in 2016 to promote the video game WWE 2K17.
To television audiences, Combs was simply another high-profile celebrity guest on WWE programming. However, Masters indicates that backstage personnel retained a markedly different impression.
Chris Masters Reflects on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Backstage Conduct
During an appearance on TMZ’s “Inside The Ring” podcast, Masters recounted anecdotes about Combs’ behavior during his WWE visits, noting that numerous wrestlers perceived the rapper as behaving superior to those around him.
“He just made a bad impression on the boys because everybody just thought he was so full of himself kind of,” he said.
Masters stated that Combs possessed a particularly rare and costly pair of sneakers, which he had an assistant carry throughout the day atop a small cushion.
“Diddy apparently had gotten some really exclusive rare, I don’t know if it was Jordan’s or something, but he had his assistant carrying it around on like this fluff pillow just trailing behind him the whole day,” Masters said.
The former wrestler added that many in the WWE locker room viewed the display as excessively extravagant.
“You know, say what you wanted about wrestlers, but, I mean, you know, to them that just came out, that was a bit too much,” he added.
Nevertheless, Masters conceded that his personal interest in sneaker culture left him somewhat appreciative of the gesture, despite considering it excessive.
It remains unclear whether this account represents the sentiment of the entire roster or merely the perspectives Masters encountered at the time. Regardless, it stands as another intriguing behind-the-scenes glimpse into a celebrity’s tenure with WWE.
