AJK Prime Minister Praises Rebuke of Misuse of JAAC Platform

MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Faisal Mumtaz Rathore on Friday welcomed recent statements by a senior member of the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) concerning alleged misuse of the platform by certain individuals.

He shared a video of senior JAAC leader Umar Nazir Kashmari’s address delivered during the Eidgah sit‑in on the outskirts of Rawalakot, describing the development as a positive step.

“Positive. Let’s discuss and resolve these matters through dialogue rather than through street protests,” the prime minister wrote.

In his address on Thursday evening, Mr Kashmiri distanced the alliance from controversial speeches and slogans delivered on its platform, emphasizing that only statements from its core leadership represent the organization’s official position.

He informed the demonstrators that JAAC’s struggle is limited to the demands outlined in its charter and is unrelated to any personal, ideological, or organizational agendas pursued by individuals.

“Our Charter of Demands, our agreement and our standard operating procedures are on record for all to see. At no point have they formed part of our agenda, nor do they now. Our demands concern our fundamental rights and have been presented clearly and transparently to the public and the international community,” he stated.

Expressing regret that the protest platform had been “misused” by some individuals, Mr Kashmari said that personal, ideological and organizational agendas have been projected from the JAAC stage. He emphasized that controversial slogans and speeches that do not align with JAAC’s charter, policies, or standard operating procedures should not be attributed to the alliance.

“I request the Government of Pakistan and all partners to consider only the statements made by JAAC’s core members as official and final. If any other remarks have been made, JAAC disavows any connection with them,” he said.

While he did not name any individuals, his comments came amid fiery speeches by certain activists, including Sardar Aman from Sudhnoti, who voiced opinions that extend beyond JAAC’s stated charter of demands.
