On the 25th anniversary of the murder, Australian authorities have released bodycam footage capturing one of the final attempts to compel Bradley Murdoch to disclose the location of Peter Falconio’s remains.
Falconio, a native of Huddersfield, was fatally shot on a secluded highway near Barrow Creek in the Northern Territory in July 2001 while traveling through Australia with his girlfriend, Joanne Lees.
During the attack, Lees was abducted by Murdoch but successfully escaped by hiding in the outback scrub for several hours before signaling down a passing truck.
In the video, recorded in June 2025, a police officer is heard appealing to Murdoch’s empathy, asking him to consider the situation as if Peter Falconio were his own son and someone held information regarding his whereabouts.
Murdoch passed away the following month while serving a life sentence for the murder of the 28-year-old.
