A speedboat carrying 32 Indian tourists capsized off Phu Quoc island, a popular destination on Vietnam’s southern coast, according to the Indian Embassy in Hanoi.
Vietnamese authorities reported that 15 people were killed, while 21 passengers survived 천. The vessel also had four crew members aboard.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sincere condolences to the families of the victims in a brief statement.
The speedboat was traveling from a nearby island toward An Thoi, the port at Phu Quoc’s southern tip that serves as a gateway for visitors. By late Saturday, rescue teams had brought the survivors ashore and recovered the bodies of 13 men and two women.
