Pitbull performed a cover of Oasis’s “Wonderwall” during his record‑breaking show at Hyde Park’s British Summer Time festival.
The global superstar delivered a massive concert at Hyde Park on Friday, July 10, where both he and attendees established a Guinness World Record for the largest assembly of fans wearing bald caps.
During the performance, Pitbull paid tribute to England’s national football team by covering “Wonderwall.” He stated, “I considered the best way to honor you all,” and added, “A close friend suggested I record this, so let’s not just talk about it — let’s do it.”
The 1995 Oasis anthem has emerged as the unofficial soundtrack for England’s World Cup campaign this year, with players joining fans in singing it after recent matches.
Pitbull’s rendition preceded England’s 2‑1 win over Norway on July 11, propelling the team into the World Cup semi‑final, where they are scheduled to meet Argentina in Atlanta, Georgia on Wednesday, July 15.
England’s squad also sang the song after wins over Croatia, Panama and the Democratic Republic of Congo, and attracted attention following a 3‑2 victory against Mexico, where Harry Kane’s enthusiastic chanting temporarily left him voiceless. During the celebration, Jordan Henderson suffered a wrist injury after an accidental collision while joining the singing crowd.
Noel Gallagher voiced his support for the track as England’s 2026 World Cup anthem, stating that the song “belongs to the people,” and admitted he was surprised that Jude Bellingham knew all the lyrics.
Liam Gallagher responded to the news that “Wonderwall” streams on Spotify in the UK have risen by 50 % due to the World Cup, and said he would be ready to travel to New York to perform the song live should England reach the final.
When a fan urged that the singer “must fly to the pitch and perform ‘Wonderwall’ live” if England’s side advances, Liam replied, “We’ll see, I’m ready.”
Liam also forecasted that England will capture the World Cup, declaring that they “have to make it happen.”
He added, “It shows that belief and ambition can turn dreams into reality. Thank you, Baldies, for making it happen. We’re here not only to congratulate but also to celebrate.”
At the Hyde Park concert, Kesha, who also wore a bald cap, joined Pitbull to perform their hit “Timber” together for the first time in 13 years, after the song’s credits were reinstated following prior controversy.
BBC Radio 1 Breakfast host Greg James and TikTok creator Jack Remmington launched the record‑setting initiative last year, after Remmington posted a video proposing the attempt at BST and James helped secure Pitbull’s participation.
Previously, some of the largest gatherings of fans wearing bald caps at Pitbull’s shows occurred during his sold‑out O2 performances in London last year, performances that went viral and inspired similar displays at later tour dates.
These shows formed part of the European leg of his “Party After Dark Tour,” where he performed alongside Lil Jon. During the O2 set, he thanked the audience for dressing up for the occasion.
“Now I would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who attended tonight wearing bald caps,” he said. “It’s truly amazing to see, and it’s incredibly rewarding.”
