Netflix has reportedly edited another instance of blood from a WWE event on its streaming replay service.
According to a report from PWInsider, the replay of last week’s episode of WWE Raw features a distinct “glitch” effect during the backstage confrontation involving Cody Rhodes, Gunther, and Sami Zayn. The visual distortion appears intended to obscure blood on Rhodes’ face following an earlier assault by Gunther.
This marks the second time Netflix has altered a bloody WWE moment for its on-demand library. Following a recent Night of Champions premium live event, the platform similarly censored blood from Bron Breakker’s Steel Cage match against Seth Rollins in the replay version. Notably, the unedited footage remained available on ESPN’s streaming platforms, where the blood was shown without visual alteration.
The discrepancy likely stems from differing content rating standards. WWE programming on Netflix carries a TV-PG rating, whereas ESPN’s broadcasts and replays do not adhere to the same classification.
Gunther’s attack on Rhodes carried significant storyline consequences. The assault left Rhodes medically unable to challenge Sami Zayn for the Undisputed WWE Championship on Raw, creating an opening for CM Punk’s surprise return. Punk capitalized on the opportunity, defeating Zayn to capture the Undisputed WWE Championship.
