KARACHI: A sessions court on Tuesday ordered the investigation officer handling the Gul Plaza fire case to record statements from all suspects, including union representatives, as well as officials from the Sindh Building Control Authority and other pertinent agencies.
The Additional District and Sessions Judge (South) conducted a hearing on Tuesday regarding the interim bail previously granted to 11‑year‑old Huzaifa, his father Naimatullah — owner of an artificial‑flower shop — as well as Gul Plaza Traders Association President Tanveer Pasta and association members Ammar Ismail and Muhammad Ramzan.
At the start of the session, the newly appointed investigation officer, DSP Aamir, appeared before the court and explained that he had been assigned by the magistrate to oversee the investigation.
He subsequently asked the court to rescind the interim bail that had been granted to the suspects.
State Prosecutor Rana M. Khalique then urged the court to require the suspects to give formal statements to police under Section 161 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
He additionally requested that the investigation officer obtain statements from SBCA officials and other relevant departmental personnel.
Following the presentations, the court instructed the IO to record statements from all suspects and departmental officials, and to file a progress report by July 21.
Earlier, the magistrate had dismissed the charge sheet and directed the SSP Investigation to appoint a DSP for further inquiry.
