The Australian women’s cricket team is experiencing turmoil after allegations that Ashleigh Gardner’s marriage ended due to an affair with teammate Georgia Voll.
Monica Wright, who had been married to Gardner for only a few months, disclosed the explosive allegations on social media.
She shared an Instagram photo of Australian star Georgia Voll with the caption, “This is who my wife cheated on me with.”
In response to the breakup news, she added, “That’s too vague. I’ll tell you exactly what happened.”
She alleges that the affair occurred during last year’s Women’s World Cup in India.
“Managing to keep the matter under wraps while still winning the World Cup is a story in itself,” a source told The Daily Telegraph.
Cricket Australia has not issued a comment, although senior officials are believed to have been aware of the affair allegations for some time.
Both Gardner and Wright have deleted photos of their wedding and engagement from their Instagram accounts.
They are no longer living together, and their shared property is reportedly vacant.
“Ash left one day. Monica returned home to find everything belonging to Ash gone, except for the wedding rings,” a source told The Daily Mail.
“She placed the wedding rings in a cupboard. Only the box containing the rings remained,” the source added.
Gardner, 29, has been a regular member of the Australian cricket team across all three formats since her 2017 debut and also competes for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League.
She is currently vice‑captain to Sophie Molineux, who assumed the role of Australian captain after Alyssa Healy retired in March.
The star all‑rounder was part of the Australian women’s team that defeated England in this month’s T20 World Cup final at Lord’s, securing a record seventh title.
“Seven heaven,” Gardner posted on Instagram, sharing a photo of the team celebrating on the iconic Lord’s balcony.
Both Gardner and Voll have been approached for comment.
