A devastating fire at a foster care facility in Algiers has resulted in eleven fatalities, according to official reports.
Algeria’s civil protection department confirmed that the blaze has also left 19 individuals injured. As of 06:50 local time (05:50 GMT) on Thursday, emergency responders were still working to suppress the flames.
While the exact ages of the deceased and injured have not yet been released by officials, the impact of the disaster is significant.
During the emergency response, civil protection officials successfully evacuated five individuals with special needs, transporting them to a secure location.
