The newest ICC Men’s ODI rankings reflect significant shifts in batting, bowling and all-rounder standings, shaped by recent series featuring India, England, New Zealand, West Indies, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh. India’s win against England in the opening ODI at Edgbaston boosted several players, with captain Shubman Gill moving close to the top of the batting charts.
Axar Patel recorded a standout all-round surge after influential contributions with bat and ball, while performers from New Zealand, West Indies and Zimbabwe also advanced on the back of strong recent shows.
Shubman Gill closes the gap on Daryl Mitchell in ODI batting rankings
Indian skipper Gill emerged as a leading mover after his match-winning 80 against England. The right-hander added 12 rating points and now sits just 11 points behind world No. 1 Daryl Mitchell, setting up a tight contest for the top ranking in the weeks ahead.
Gill anchored India’s successful chase before retiring hurt on 80 off 75 balls. Mitchell retains the No. 1 spot after 93 runs in New Zealand’s first two ODIs against West Indies, with Gill now pressing hard behind him.
In other batting movements, England’s Joe Root rose to joint 12th with a fluent 76 in the first ODI, while West Indies captain Shai Hope climbed to sixth after an unbeaten 87 against New Zealand. Keacy Carty entered the top 20 after a strong series start, and Zimbabwe opener Ben Curran leapt 31 places to 34th following a fine series versus Bangladesh.
Axar Patel enters top 10 as bowlers and all-rounders make gains
India all-rounder Axar was rewarded across all three lists after earning Player of the Match against England. His four wickets and unbeaten half-century lifted him 18 places to 73rd in batting, 42nd among bowlers, and into ninth in the ICC Men’s ODI all-rounder rankings.
Washington Sundar also gained after an unbeaten fifty, rising 24 places to 177th in batting and 16 spots to 55th among all-rounders. Jasprit Bumrah returned to the ODI bowling rankings at 24th after taking a wicket on comeback against England.
New Zealand seamer Jayden Lennox achieved a career-best climb with 5/19 against West Indies, up 31 places to joint 66th in bowling. West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph moved up six to 36th after a five-wicket haul across the first two ODIs.
Zimbabwe all-rounder Brad Evans was another big mover as Player of the Series against Bangladesh, jumping 148 places in batting, gaining four in bowling, and surging 82 in all-rounder standings.
England stars make gains in latest ICC T20I rankings
The weekly update also shifted the ICC Men’s T20I rankings after England’s 4-0 series win over India. Captain Harry Brook rose 12 places to seventh in batting with 229 runs, while Jos Buttler reached sixth after a career-best 131 in the final T20I.
England pacer Jofra Archer climbed eight places to joint 18th in T20I bowling after seven wickets in four matches.
